motyernglass1983 – Mother-n-Glass, by Diane Gifts, -Mother in a Jar. The doll is material and she is in a 7 x 4 inch glass jar. Has tag on bottom, has original tag tied around lid. “For the mother who cooks and cleans, cares and shares, comforts and councils, and runs her buns off.”

    These kind of things, any kind of person stuffed in a jar, always freaked me out. The person was usually made from some kind of stuffed nylon stocking which always looked like translucent skin to me. Just the thought of touching those little gumball toes has my skin itching already.

    I like that they’re trying to be clever with their title, “Mother ‘N Glass”, by incorporating the ever popular ‘N but of course, in this case it makes absolutely no sense as that was always a shortcut for the word ‘and’ and not the word ‘in’ as they mean to use it here.

    I know these things were very popular in their day. I used to see them in gift shops all the time but I was always too busy buying black lite posters.
