I never even heard of this place. Wow! I know you couldn’t go in but from what you saw through the window was there really unusual Elvis stuff in there or just the normal mass-produced stuff we see all over the place? Do you know who owns it? And, any idea of whether it’s officially sanctioned by the Elvis estate? I’m assuming no (and hoping so too!).

I love the hand-painted Elvis car sign.

It used to be on I-44 between St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri. It’s no longer open there, so either they’ve closed, or moved to another location. There might’ve been an auction, but I can’t remember for sure. I’ve been in it more than once.

It’s been awhile, but I know there was lots of Elvis merchandise, because I bought a cassette and made the guy with me listen to it in the rental car. Also, there was a white coffin. Lots and lots of “documentation” on the walls and on tables, but most of it looked pretty bogus. And maybe a couple of mannequins, but it didn’t seem like they were really congruent with the theme of the place.
My daughter lives about 60 miles from where this was.

There was a small billboard type sign I didn’t include about buying groceries and the non-hours hours of the place but it didn’t mention the Elvis Is Alive Museum. There were painted ties and other Elvis chotchkies that looked classicly bad. I was on a road trip and couldn’t wait around for them to open when they felt like it. I should have gotten a closer shot of the Elvis photo blown up and sitting in the front seat of the car.

My apologies, my daughter says it was never on I-44, but always on I-70, which you said in the post. I got in such a hurry when I saw it because it’d been so long since I even thought of the place.
The Ozarks are a treasure trove of kitsch.

This could be so much fun…wish they would of been open…
Does the large Elvis picture at the entrance have floating guitars creating the mat???
