The architecture of the deco period was represented in all its glory at the 1940 Wold’s Fair in NYC. The original media appears to have been graphic and color pencils or airbrush. This 10″ souvenir plate was found at a road side trunk sale in the mid 80’s. How could I resist and $2 was the price. Allee, your home fits right in doesn’t it?

Deco architecture is about as good as it gets and I can say the same thing about vintage World’s Fairs. So what’s not to love about this plate? The color process around the rim does look a little newer but I’m so not so much an expert here. The New York World’s Fair was officially 1939 but ran into 1940. So it could go either way. One way or another, gorgeous plate!
