I love this old footage, especially when it’s a Thanksgiving Parade and takes place in Detroit. These were all too early for me to be in attendance but there’s no question that I stood on Woodward Avenue many years later and watched the parade at least a few times in my youth and certainly never missed it on TV. It’s almost impossible for me to watch a parade without smelling turkey. And God knows how many trillions of times I was in Hudson’s, the great department store that sponsored Detroit’s Thanksgiving Parade.

I can’t wait for The Color Purple to come back to The Fox. It’s seriously one of the most gorgeous, if not THE most gorgeous theater, I’ve ever been in. And seeing that that’s where my love of soul music kicked into ultrahigh gear because that’s where I went to see the Motown Reviews every year it’s most exciting to see my work performed there. I can’t wait to be back there in April to see the show and hopefully pull off a couple other things I have planned there.

I’m playing these videos on a loop on my TV right now.
