Though this movie was made in 1968, we saw for the first time just a few days ago. The set designs and costumes were ahead of their time. The plot and music, though really not a plot, was a series of adventures on a distant planet and Jane was the lone astronaut piloting her own ship, lined with shag carpeting from floor to ceiling. A young Jane Fonda could shake her booty and was actually entertaining.

Although I got a little bored with the movie the first time around when I saw it when it came out I was completely thrilled with all futuristic aspects of it and considered it a kitsch classic from the jump. It’s probably gotten much better with age.

Jane Fonda was married to the director, Roger Vadim, at the time. It was such a departure for her. But a perfect movie to come out in 1968. The sets and costumes are spectacular even if the story wasn’t particularly for me.

There really was no story, just visual surprises. Amazing that her space ship kept crashing and put back together with a screwdriver.
I guess Roger wanted impress Jane with his directing skills.
