The only thing I love more than a really bad fashion idea is a really excellent display card to feature it on. The idea of a cigarette ring, or any kind of a ring to park some kind of smokable in, is actually pretty great were the part of the ring meant to hold the smoldering log large enough to accommodate it. But in the case of the Hollywood Finger Ring, unless you’re packing Virginia Slims, that ain’t going to happen.

Then again, why don’t you just carry a blowtorch? But, if we give some license and assume that a cigarette or some other rolled substance would, in fact, fit into the little carriage, here are some of the many instances in which such a ring would come in very handy:
As much as I abhor cigarettes or being in the vicinity of someone else partaking of the habit, I really think this is a brilliant concept. However, in addition to the already discussed too small opening for an actual sized cig, the rings are made of colorful plastic. Which means that they would most likely appeal most to kids. Who we don’t want to encourage to smoke. So this brilliant concept = stupid product. Which is just what we love placing on the shelves here at The Allee Willis Museum Of Kitsch.

Love this! There are other things that can be smoked. Let’s just say you could pass the entire ring around and not burn your finger tips. That is all.

This is absolutely one of my favorite things that I have come across at Willis Wonderland. I could have used these at one time. I would have squeezed that filter to make it fit!!
Wow– how amazing is it that this display is not only in perfect condition but that it still contains each and every ring? Where did you find this?
Found it on Ebay. i think I paid $25. Have you been to that shop in Farmers MArket that sells old novelties?
No, haven’t been to Farmers Market in ages– I’ll have to check it out.
Forget what it’s called. On the North side of the market behind the restaurants. tons of old novelties. Not for a steal but some great little something most of the time.
Never EVER seen these! What a hoot…… I just imagine how awkward it must feel though. You would have to hold your finger straight out,or risk burning your knuckle. Your finger would then look like you are pointing the “I’m with stupid” t-shirts. Since they are all there in the showcase, perhaps they were not the sellers they were meant to be??

So it’s worth noting, I’m a recent ex-smoker, (7 weeks and holding) but it’s awfully tempting to start again just to see if I could dial a rotary phone with one of these. :o)
because after all, it’s a genuine Hollywood cigarette ring.

What a great post, this is really Fabulous!!!… I’m racking my brain trying to remember…wondering if they put they put it in a film?? I think saw the finger ring in maybe a Bette Davis or Gloria Swanson film, anyone remember???
Not ringing a bell for me but I’d love to see one in a film!
