Texas Pete (Again)

I know I sent you Texas Pete before, but my last pictures weren’t the best and I kind of wanted to give him another chance to shine.  I bought this weird (and HEAVY) made-of-clay cowboy head at a yard sale a few years ago.  He’s super weird, super-heavy, and just about the kitschiest thing I have ever seen.

Profile view…  I think he might be made of terra cotta?  Some sort of heavy clay.

He’s hollow inside, but still weighs a ton.  I wish he was signed.  True artistry shouldn’t  be ignored.  I wonder who made him, and why… and when…?  So many unanswered questions!!!

I love this guy. I would treasure this too. He’s so lumpily made. And that drooly, dripping mustache of his makes me at least be grateful he’s not a mug.

Too bad there’s not a signature on the bottom. I’m hoping someone made it in some kind of adult crafts class.
