I finally went into one of the souvenir shops here on Cape Cod. It’s one of those places that litters the front of their building with blow up rafts and signs for locally made salt water taffy. I was surprised at the amount of kitsch in this shop and portions of it was almost like stepping back into time. For instance, I had no idea things like these were still being made. Seashells playing bingo?

Me in squishy, plastic turtle glasses.

Gigantic stuffed hot dog. Why?

Gigantic, stuffed hamburger pillow.

Pirate figurine with hook hand. Perfect for toy for children.

Who would buy this?

If those giant hot dog and hamburger pillows or whatever they are were for sale I’d be shipping a whole lot of food back to LA from Cape Cod right now. I might also get a phony hickey on the way. And just what is a phoney hickey doing in a Cape Cod souvenir shop anyway?

Hope you’re eating a lot of real hotdogs and hamburgers (as opposed to pillow versions) this Memorial Day.

I think those shells are supposed to be frogs! I would totally buy that for this bingo lady I know.

Also I think if your hickey looks like that, you should probably stop dating vampires.

  3. I thought the hamburger was a pineapple !!
