Kitsch Allee Willis has commented on.
Comments

These are all of comments I've made about all the beautiful Kitsch in the Kitschenette Wing of the AWMoK:

HELP! I need a breathing treatment after finding this pic! Little old ladies and martians make for one kitschy picture!

  1. Allee Willis says:

Thanks so much for that info!

  2. Allee Willis says:

Yes, in that case a helmet would certainly help.

  3. Allee Willis says:

Oh I wish I was on THAT trip!!

Denny’s Adventures In Allee’s “Willis Wonderland” – July 2011 – Part 11

  1. Allee Willis says:

I have forwarded your comment to the producer who's making a documentary on Eddie. We shall see!

  2. Allee Willis says:

Wow! That's fantastic. The BD portraits are so iconic. I know thee were 3 primary artists who did the portraits. How did your grandfather sign his? Was he ZEL?

  3. Allee Willis says:

I don't think any of my portraits are by him. Of my 20 portraits in the house, all done in the 40s and 50s, they were drawn either by Zel or Eddie Vitch. But I have 24 more portraits that aren't hanging up so perhaps some of those are Jack Lane.

  4. Allee Willis says:

I almost died when I found that fez. For all intents and purposes, it DOES bear my name.

Not sure who Jack Lane is, but the Brown Derby drawings were done by three separate artists over all the decades that the restaurant was open. The most famous one is ZEL. Is Jack lane one of the other two?

This is also one of my favorite places to sit in the house. It's the little booth in my kitchen. I got all those Brown Derby drawings for a complete steal, $30 total, and Brown Derby collectors constantly call me to ask if I want to sell them. That will never happen. It feels very right to sit under them in my namesake fez.

Sonny and Cher Globe

  1. Allee Willis says:

Thanks for kudos on the site! And how much is the globe going to be going for? I'm strictly a thrift shop/flea market price shopper but always good to know.

  2. Allee Willis says:

I'd be jealous anyway as I love Sonny & Cher anything but the fact that this was actually on the set of their show has me glassy eyed.

With all the great drawings of them done over the years it's absolutely amazing that a drawing that makes Sonny look Asian and Cher look more like Marlo Thomas is what ends up on stage.

    How big is the bulb?

Schnappsie – The Singing Dachsund original record

  1. Allee Willis says:

The only suggestion is to do a search on eBay and have emails sent to yourself if it shows up. With things like this it takes patience but they do eventually show up.

  2. Allee Willis says:

I'd love to know about Schnappsie!

  3. Allee Willis says:

I love this cover! What I love most from a Kitsch perspective is that this is an LP and not only does Schnappsie sing he dances. Not sure how one is supposed to experience the latter given that this is an LP or how a 15 inch Schnappsie could be stuffed inside an 1/8 inch thick 12"x12" LP cover but then again, if Schnappsie is "the only dog in the World with a Magic Button" perhaps he has other extraordinary talents I'm not aware of.

I'm insane about Schnappsie's little outfit. I too own a mini spy camera but it never looked as good around my neck as it does around Schnappsie's.

Denny’s 2012 Summer Adventures in Allee Willis’ “Willis Wonderland” – part 16

  1. Allee Willis says:

Which chair are you referring to as there are 4 of them in this post?

  2. Allee Willis says:

I know. Furniture has feelings. If they're in a good home they can acquire that attribute!

  3. Allee Willis says:

These are all in my living room. I switch favorites all the time. My current favorite is the chair in the top photo. Unbelievably sturdy and comfortable. When I got it everything that is chrome now was dark black aged brass, and not very attractive. But I loved the curves and I never had a rocking chair before so I dipped the puppy and made it all chrome. I almost fainted when it came back it was so gorgeous. The Naugahyde is 100% original.
