Kitsch Allee Willis has commented on.
Comments

These are all of comments I've made about all the beautiful Kitsch in the Kitschenette Wing of the AWMoK:

Schnappsie – The Singing Dachsund original record

  1. Allee Willis says:

The only suggestion is to do a search on eBay and have emails sent to yourself if it shows up. With things like this it takes patience but they do eventually show up.

  2. Allee Willis says:

I'd love to know about Schnappsie!

  3. Allee Willis says:

I love this cover! What I love most from a Kitsch perspective is that this is an LP and not only does Schnappsie sing he dances. Not sure how one is supposed to experience the latter given that this is an LP or how a 15 inch Schnappsie could be stuffed inside an 1/8 inch thick 12"x12" LP cover but then again, if Schnappsie is "the only dog in the World with a Magic Button" perhaps he has other extraordinary talents I'm not aware of.

I'm insane about Schnappsie's little outfit. I too own a mini spy camera but it never looked as good around my neck as it does around Schnappsie's.

Denny’s 2012 Summer Adventures in Allee Willis’ “Willis Wonderland” – part 16

  1. Allee Willis says:

Which chair are you referring to as there are 4 of them in this post?

  2. Allee Willis says:

I know. Furniture has feelings. If they're in a good home they can acquire that attribute!

  3. Allee Willis says:

These are all in my living room. I switch favorites all the time. My current favorite is the chair in the top photo. Unbelievably sturdy and comfortable. When I got it everything that is chrome now was dark black aged brass, and not very attractive. But I loved the curves and I never had a rocking chair before so I dipped the puppy and made it all chrome. I almost fainted when it came back it was so gorgeous. The Naugahyde is 100% original.

KITSCHportant NOTICE!!! PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING

  1. Allee Willis says:

Yay, Nessa! I will be cruising in and out and at some point when my workload lessons will be back full time.

  2. Allee Willis says:

Well, I love this note from you! How long did you keep your AMOK going? I'm not aware of Morris Mertz but I'm certainly fascinated with him now that I've read what you wrote. My greatest joy is to be stumbling into a store that time forgot that was packed with unopen gems. There was one here in Glendale, California called Record Products that I stumbled on around 1982 and I eventually bought out at least half of the store over a period of the next few years. No one was ever in there so it was really whatever I could afford each time I went. The first time I drove up and saw the closed sign on the door I needed sedation for about a month. I have never forgotten that place. So I can imagine your thrill when you stumbled upon Morris Mertz. If you still have gems lying around please post them here. I'm not active anymore curating every day but if you write another comment where you put this one I will make sure and look and post. It is excellent meeting another Kitsh wise person! Oh, and if you haven't seen this, this was in the Washington post yesterday: The first video is packed with kitsch: http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/music/hit-songwriter-and-kitsch-provider-allee-willis-now-has-a-song-for-detroit/2015/05/14/a417d020-f8d8-11e4-9030-b4732caefe81_story.html

The “Trek-arella” chairs by Chromcraft

  1. Allee Willis says:

Please post pictures of your tables and chairs here. Would love to see the whole set as I've never seen the original table. If you're positive that the table was made specifically for the chairs I would reconsider using it with the dutch modern table as it is so exceptionally rare to see the entire set. But if you're not 100% sure it was made to go with the chairs originally go ahead with the table you're using. But would really love to see photos here. Here are instructions for how to upload: http://www.awmok.com/how-to-submit/

  2. Allee Willis says:

Wow, your dad! That Sculpta chair is SO famous. All Chromcraft chairs are killers! If you have any photos of your house growing up with any of the furniture in them would love to see you post that here at AWMOK. Please thank your dad for his most excellent work!

  3. Allee Willis says:

Thanks so much for the name of the episode. I've been searching for it forever as this is one of my most favorite chairs I own. Would love to see your set here at AWMOK. I've never actually seen a full set before. Direct link to upload is http://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/how-to-submit/.

  4. Allee Willis says:

I have one of these chairs in green vinyl. To see a set of four, in excellent shape no less and in that kooky late 60's vinyl pattern, is truly breathtaking! And how incredible that you also have the ad. Of course, anything named to Sculpta with the tagline "go for a romantic Chromantic 66 ( and 67, 68...)" catapults straight up the ladder of Kitsch.

I'm noticing many other things in your photo that you should submit to the Museum. The linoleum with the feature stripe made even better with that patch of shag carpeting on top of it and the glass bottles against the wall for a start.

Beaded clown

  1. Allee Willis says:

Let us know if you do.

  2. Allee Willis says:

Adorable! And I don't even like clowns.

Is the lace wrapped around each bead or do the beads come that way? And how long did that take to make?
