Just back from an east coast get-a-way. This was snapped in a warehouse building filled with about 50 artists, each with their own work space. This caught my eye. The artist cut out brown craft paper making clothing, displaying them as you see it on the rack with wire hangers. The white shoes and thrift shop sign pull it all together. The same artist also created the piece on the wall. I don’t know know her name but could find out if you like. This I like!

I like these a lot. There was a time when I used to make disposable jackets out of white butcher paper that I would paint to match the theme of the evening I was about to spend. This all works in theory until someone spills a drink on you.

I really like that the artist combined this with works on the wall. Would have liked to see more shoes though.

Sorry, no more shoe. This was my grab shot. Making your own paper clothing to match the party is fabulous. Allee, have you ever considered getting blank clothing and make it your canvas to wear? I have a feeling you have already.
Do you have a Warhol’s soup can paper dress in your vault? Now that’s rare.

wow, i really love these…i would absolutely wear this stuff and actually, i really like that jacket design…hmmmm….i kinda like the idea of making life-size art templates for clothing instead of patterns…easier to see the finished product!

I’ve made a lot of clothes for myself although I’ve never had them manufactured which has always been a dream of mine. I’ve drawn on things and have made tons of photo collage clothes for myself. I ‘make’ all my own clothes. I don’t actually sew them but I collect vintage fabrics and made my own pants, shirts and jacket patterns. I just take them in to a tailor when I need new clothes.

No, no Warhol soup can paper dress in the collection. Not that I don’t want one there!

Allee, I know I’m not the only one who would be privleged to wear anything you put your creative brush to. Say the word, and a blank T-shirt is in the mail with a check too. I’ve been energized by your gusto.

That’s so funny because for the last couple of weeks I’ve been talking with my partner who I make my “Pigmy Will” animated series with about making t-shirts and one of the alternatives we discussed to having to invest in a bunch of pre-printed shirts when we have no idea what color or size is to get a 1 trillion of was the possibility of people sending us shirts they wanted us to draw on. We thought they could be blank or already have something on them and we would just hand draw around what we were given. We were about to research what kind of ink or paint to use as well as what to charge. So it’s fortuitous that you bring this up today! So researching and if you don’t hear back from me leave another comment or shoot me an e-mail in a week or so.

That’s an absolutely fantastic idea and making custom stuff is always lucrative! Be prepared to have a 6 year wait list ;) and I will be on it for sure!!!!
