Handmade Creepy Pumpkin with Creepy Face

My dad remembers being really creeped out by this when he was growing up in the sixties. I found this in my grandmother’s house after she died. No one really wanted to keep it, I found it too kitschy to give away so I ended up keeping it. It’s definitely hand-crafted by someone in clay. The initials ‘KLG’ are etched into the bottom of it. I originally put my cell phone underneath it to show it in its full lit-up glory, then switched to a small candle after the phone wouldn’t stay lit up, then just went turned the lamp on. But I forgot to take the phone out, so it was wedged above it and lit on fire. Hahaha. Anyway, I keep it in the closet because it creeps me out a bit.

I love that this has so much family history. It’s creepy because the mouth and nose look almost human. The great part of the story, of course, is attempting to use the cell phone to light it up but lighting the phone on fire instead. I have several such incidences in my life as per my kitsch collection.

I wish my family would have kept their Halloween decorations! This is fascinatingly creepy and cannot imagine these coming out in the 60’s. This is so cool and I would absolutely break it out now to gear up for the holidays! I’d display it with bowls of candy surrounding it to make it look like the pumpkin is wearing some sort of necklace. I love it and the eyebrows kill me!
