lamp

I love lamps and acquire them whenever I can. One thing about Cape Cod living is that our dumps have what they call “Dump stores”. Stuff that is too good to throw away. It’s an all free experience too. Fill your bags and go! I found this lamp at our local dump. I could not pass this up.

Great leisure class 1950’s lamp. Probably came with a mate back in the day.

We have lots of dumps in LA but none that I know of that have an associated store with them. I’d be there right now if I knew one existed. Back in the 80’s when I was doing a lot of sets for music videos every shoot used to end with a trip to the dump. I used to die as I watched the sets and props that I didn’t have any room to keep slither into the holes in the ground. There were fantastic finds all over the place popping out of rotten food, demolished bathrooms and whatnot. It took every ounce of strength and common medical sense not to fill the truck right back up again and hightail it out of there.

It really is kind of strange to go into a “store” in a dump that hangs signs like “keep your free shopping limited to an hour”. Strange to fill up bags and walk away and not have to pay! I like that. I make whole shopping days out of dump runs! It kills me to see things slip away too. What a shame!

Yes, yes! You hang out and wander, filling your arms with whatever you goodness you find appealing, it’s a shoppers dream! When I tell people, they are amazed. I tend to find the strangest things in my dump runs!
