“Hey Kids, What time is it?” It’s Howdy Doody time! Who knew Buffalo Bob Smith was the voice behind Howdy Doody and his pals??? This is a “How to be a ventriloquist” record release in the 70’s. If you watched Howdy Doody from 1947 to the mid ‚Äò50’s or sat in the “Peanut Gallery” you would be most familiar with this slice of early black & white TV. As a tot this was one of the very first TV shows for kids.

I LOVED Howdy Doody as a kid and religiously ate my Bosco injected milk and tuna fish sandwich with a layer of potato chips to Howdy and gang every day of my youth.
I had no idea that Buffalo Bob did all the voices. I would’ve made my parents buy me this for sure if I knew it was out. I was really good at talking without moving my lips but had no idea how to throw my voice any farther than my tuna sandwich.

The Museum of Broadcasting has an interesting history of Bob Smith and the Howdy Doody characters. I didn’t realize it ran till 1960. It seems, this show was used to sell TVs to the families of America.
