Original Golden Gate Bridge Rivets

When work on the GOlden Gate Bridge was completed in 1936, a schedule was set up for replacement of rivets corroded by the salt air. My brother in law knew one of the workers who kept the rivets, welded two on a small metal plate, added a brass plaque and sold them to tourists. He gave my brother several of them.

My cousin’s uncle worked on the Bay Bridge. One day he fell from the Bridge 185′ to the water. The only thing that saved him was a garbage scow which was carrying soft garbage that he landed in. I suppose you could say that he came up smelling like a rose!
