This regular penny is in a small bottle with a stopper in the top.  I wonder if the indentation in  the bottom has anything to do with it?

This kind of thing has always mystified and thrilled me. Like a boat in a bottle. Love this little penny sized bottle. Where did you get it?

I think Snappyp, who commented, is right about a glass blower blowing the glass around the penny. I also once saw a ship being built in a bottle. The ship was all assembled, sails furled and folded back. It was put in the bottleneck and a string pulled to bring the ship upright. the string was then anchored to the cork plug.

I know how they get a boat in the bottle. Some guy with adept fingers and tweezers builds the boat inside the bottle. I think with the Penny, some glass blower blew glass around the penny and sold these little bottles for $5 apiece.

    it’s very deet.
