What was once a traditional 70’s style suburban home located in Salzburg, Austria has now become a green home with a unique design. The home, which architect and designer Markus Volglreiter calls the “Auto Residence,” looks like a futuristic Volkswagen Bug.
It was so popular he built a restaurant like it also in Salzburg.

That’s fabulous! There used to be a house built to look like a large boat (or maybe an ark?) in rural NE Ohio. It was at least two stories tall and I used to pass it on my drive between college and home. It was a sad day when I drove by one day and it had disappeared.

Carrie, I’m in NE Ohio, where was this large house boat? When did it disappear?

It was along SR 3 somewhere between Mt Vernon and Wooster, though I don’t remember exactly where (if I drove it again, I could probably identify the spot though!) I was driving that route regularly between 1995 and 1999 – it disappeared around 1998/1999.

The big Car house is so well done, it makes the other houses seem over-sized instead of vice versa. I see a winding staircase through the front windows. Would love to peek inside this place. What a cool creation.
