Despite having many pairs of these in my percussion drawer I never really mastered how to use them. Much easier for me to just pick up a stick and clack away on a woodblock. I do love this pair though because they came complete with packaging. They were made sometime before 1960 judging from the zone number on the back.
I was obsessed with castanets after seeing them in old movies when I was a wee guy…
