No this was not snapped in 1970…but today 2010! Just hours ago, I pull over and parked just to get this vintage VW van from all sides…and close up too. Isn’t it great to see someone still feelin’ groovy in 2010? Check out the interior dashboard! Sorry I missed the stickers on the right side.

I love, love, love handpainted cars. I especially love handpainted vans as there’s way more room for someone to go completely bonkers. But what I love most of all are hand painted VW vans as they were the original canvas for hand-painted cars.
The dash is great though I can’t imagine what happens when the driver hits the brakes hard.
I really like the eyelashes on the headlights. Stickers are well-chosen as well. God bless whoever still rides around feelin’ groovy.

I would imagine many more old vans like this surviving in the SW where the bodies don’t rust out. This beauty stopped me in my tracks as I was leaving a tag sale. Chances are, the driver was shopping for more dashboard decor. A year ago I may have admired it and driven on. AWMOK created the inspirartion to stop and snap it.

I love this bus. Haven’t seen one for awhile out west, but back in the day we’d see them more frequently in Boulder. They always had a strange musky smell. Ha!

Oh, my partner would love this. He’s an old hippie at heart and he dreams of one day owning a VW Bus (filled with groovy friends, a dog wearing a bandana, some good smoke and on an adventure across the country). Don’t think it will ever happen at this stage of our lives, but a person can dream.
