Wow, wow and more WOW! An absolutely stupendous cover if for no other reason then my favorite “Gaye” perched on that stool in the middle. The way his hair lays seems to match the flaps of his jacket that actually looks more like a jumpsuit than a two-piece suit. What’s with the piping going around the bottom of the sleeves and pants? Love that the flare of the sleeve matches the flare of the pants. Love both of the haircuts on either side of my favorite “Gaye”, especially the one on the right, the top section of which looks like it has a life of its own. I love that they were all told to wear as close to white shoes as they had, none of them matching and all of them needing a shoe shine. These outfits look somewhere between karate suits and early ’70s lounge act wardrobe that their wives sewed the night before on two martinis. I also love how gnarly those turtleneck collars look. The guy in the glasses all the way to the right looks like he’s wearing a neck brace. And what exactly are their legs lifted up and balanced on next to the stool? An overturned plastic beer tub?

Denny– you find the most amazing album covers. I’m hoping they’re not all displayed on one wall– scarier than an acid flashback. Just did a quick search and found that the Gayes are a Swedish dance band. And the title means, “You little white dove.” Never knew that “elephant bells” could apply to shirt sleeves as well as pants legs.

I think the one guy has a stain on his shirt! Doug…..my partner would divorce me if I hung all these on the living room wall. I display 3 at a time. Right now I have TAMBOO by Les Baxter, Judy Garland at The Grove (great cover) and a Judy Holiday album being displayed. I had more lp’s but earthquakes and moves took care of those!
