Pair of Poodles in Sun Hats

I know poodles were big in the 50’s and 60’s, but this pair looks like it might’ve been made in the 40’s due to the color palette of the hats and the off-white on the dogs (which has considerable crazing that’s not too visible in the photos.) The addition of the sun hats also seemed to make these poodles stand out from your average poodle chotchkes.

These are fantastic! The expressions on their faces are priceless and unlike the stiffer, more poised expressions that are usually on poodles of this ilk.

Of course, the spaghetti technique is always very effective for poodle puffs. I like that these are a different color from the rest of the canines’ fur.

I also really like that they’re not just two poodles standing at attention. The flattened out reclining one kills me.

Also noteworthy is that they have the same size heads but one has a much smaller hat. That means either she’s the female or the artist was running out of clay.
