Shell Souvenir from Logan Rock

I found this in a Charity Shop, and was taken by the whole composition..such a tiny piece of green the gnome has must be hard work among all those shells. I suspect this may be old because I have not seen anything like this on my travels. Logan Rock is in Cornwall..I believe its a very large rock that tilts backwards and forwards with very little encouragement..not one to sit under.

I love things made from shells because so often the artists go so overboard and combine so many different shells it looks like an underwater collision. Sticking a garden gnome harvesting his plastic mushroom in on top of it makes it even better. It also makes perfect sense in a kitsch world that here’s a souvenir to commemorate a rock and nary a rock is in sight.

Your killing me Shirlie, I think I need this! I love Gnomes, especially when they are small enough to conduct their lives in a seashell! This absolutely deserved a “Certifikitsch”. Bravo! The mushroom is killing me as if it’s the only thing the poor little guy could grow.

Denny I will find you a Gnome when I go to Cornwall next month.. I am going to go back to the pixie garden and engage the old lady in conversation even though she is scary and get some more info…I love this and especially the way his little sleeves are rolled up and that dinky little rake.
