Kitchen Decals of the 50’s

This decal sheet is part of a collection from a house sale about two years ago. Over time the clear varish holding the decal together had deteriorated and fell apart when wet. Recent discovery…put 3 coats of clear acrylic varnish on old decal…wha-la!

What’s better… frame the decal sheet, with the Meyercord envelope as the mat.

I was never good with decals. I could never get them on straight or bubble free. But I always think the vintage ones are beautiful, packaging and all. I love the motif of these and the colors are stone cold 50’s to the max.

The pink and blue colors are amazing and I love that these are supposed to make our homes more colorful. I grew up with this sort of wallpaper in my Mom’s kitchen. When I stripped the kitchen to paint for Mom, what I found underneath was layers of old wallpaper. The row home was built in 1912. I found 3 layers of different designs but nothing that I could salvage.
