A popular game “Blockhead” from the ’50’s became a project for me last October. There was a silent auction fund raising event for the area arts in NE Ohio, with the theme “Out Of The Box”. Create anything as long as a box was somehow part of the piece. This balancing challenge was a late summer yard sale find. I literally took it out of the box. Each wood piece was drilled with wood rods running into each piece and glued. The original wood was a washed out color stain. I repainted each block in the vibrant colors on the box and I added was a painted red heart on the only loose peg that could be rotated or removed. The outer box graphics was an important element to the piece. Its title, “Blockhead Revisited”.

Excellent artistry!
I don’t remember Blockhead from the 50s but then again I never had patience to put things together like this. I was the least likely Lego fan in the world!
You did an excellent job revitalizing all the pieces. I hope the silent auction raised a lot of moolah.

It was a much bigger job than I thought it would be. Lining up the pieces to look like the box was beyond gravity. I think they originally shot it flat on the table and not upright. No way would it ever stand on its own. I enjoyed the challenge, just this one time. I’m sorry I didn’t buy it back for myself. Never did find out what it went for.
