Scottish Terrier Guatemalan Souvenir Box

Not sure why a Scottish Terrier is the mascot on this tacky wooden box from Guate-friggin’-mala, but logic and souvenirs don’t often go hand-in-hand. The box is kind of cool, though– when you pull the Scotty, he slides the cover open, displaying the hand-painted Central American village hut scene; push him back down and the cover closes.

Logic and souvenirs don’t often go hand-in-hand. And as far as travel souvenirs go, there’s usually even less logic involved as rarely does the object have anything to do with the state or country it’s advertising.

I really love that all the dog does here is position the drawing differently. At least he could have lifted the lid entirely off so this could be a little stash box.

Funny that you mention stash box because that’s exactly what the guy who sold this to me in Venice told me he used this for. And the smell that still lingers in the box backs up his story.
