I was looking at your thing on your visit to Madonna Inn. My brother in law knew Bill Madonna and would stop and see him when he went down that way. The brother in law was with the Operating Enginners Business Office in San Mateo. He told me what to look for in a visit there especially the men’s bathroom. When you enter, you see on the wall a nature scene with trees, stuffed birds and squirrels. When you crossed an electric eye the “nature wall” flushed. He also told me to show it to my wife, so when all the men were out, I motioned to her to run in and take a quick look. I wish I had taken a picture of the “nature wall”. I don’t know if that feature is still there or not. That would be a submittal to the Kitsch Museum!

Every inch of the Madonna Inn is stupendous. It’s one of those places that was built so the owner could just keep adding his wonderful craziness to it. Not sure if the mens room is the same as you remember it, and theres probably more than one mens room, but it’s definitely stupendous no matter what. I have some photos of it I’ll dig out.
