Thank you so much for posting this, Mark. I just wrote a tribute to Monica too: https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2010/11/05/r-i-p-akitschionado-monica-johnson/

Most people reading this here at AWMOK won’t know the significance of Angel View Thrift Shop in Palms Springs but this was where aKitschionado, Monica Johnson, whose artwork abounds here at AWMOK, did most of the shopping for her pieces. She passed away on Monday. Although she never revealed it here, in addition to making many incredible art pieces, Monica was an exceptionally brilliant screenwriter with lots of hit movies and tv shows. Check out my tribute to see which ones. And here’s one of the many obits written about this most brilliant artist and person: http://articles.latimes.com/2010/nov/04/local/la-me-monica-johnson-20101104. WE WILL MISS YOU, MONICA….

I remember you being the first person to respond to Monica’s art here. She was so completely thrilled that she was getting comments. She was someone who thought a lot about what her work meant and e-mailed me immediately when she got your first comment to tell me how excited she was. She was also completely over the moon to get her CertifiKitsches of Authenticity’s. She took it completely seriously, which helped me take AWMOK even more seriously. Anyway, I just really wanted to thank you for being so supportive of her art. It breaks my heart that it took me writing a little obit so that everyone here knew who she was but it also brings me great joy how touched everyone is knowing that. https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2010/11/05/r-i-p-akitschionado-monica-johnson/

She sold some of the pieces and I’m sure her family has the rest. She was actively making them all the way to the end and, in fact, had brought two pieces to the hotel when I saw her a couple of weeks ago. One of them was a surprised gift for me, which I was thrilled to receive and ever more grateful for now given the circumstance. At the appropriate time do you want me to ask if any pieces are for sale?

I think all of us on AWMOK would be interested in knowing the disposition of her work.

Show us the piece she gave you!!
