I don’t recall where I picked up this shriner with a magnet base but he’s one of my absolute favorite kitchen magnets- of which I have a gazillion! Granted he often falls off of the door if we swing it too hard, but I think he likes that he’s on a different plane than all the other magnets!

I have this exact Shriner magnet. I got it about 15 years ago at a store in LA called Y Que?, which sold excellent vintage kitsch artifacts. I really love that you have him mounted on your refrigerator door, parallel with the floor.

I absolutely love Shriners memorabilia. I have a lot of stuff but the person I know who has the most, literally cabinet after cabinet after cabinet full, is Lee Sklar, a really famous bass session player. He’s currently in Toto but played on just about every huge record that came out of Los Angeles from the late 70s through well into the 90s. He’s been with James Taylor for decades and was also in Phil Collins band. He looks like a Hasidic rabbi with a very long and full beard so he’s pretty easy to recognize. He has a mansion in Pasadena and any collector I know, including myself, pales to what he and his wife Maureen have amassed from all those years of touring and stopping at every thriftshop across America. This is where the ultimate Shriners collection lies.
