In the past, I have shared photos of my tiki bathroom. Well, as you can see, this is my gas station bathroom! It’s a small guest bathroom and it’s devoted to all things having to do with cars and gas stations. It’s very popular with our friends. Some say it’s their favorite room in the house! Guess I’ll let these photos do the talking. Fasten your seat belts, it’s gonna be a kitschy ride!

Needless to say, this is exceptionally entertaining bathroom. Just like socks, which people don’t understand the importance of in an exceptional outfit, people also don’t understand the importance of giving someone something to look at in the guest bathroom. Of course, this can make it difficult at parties as people spend a lot more time in there than is necessary. But it’s important as defining your personality can never be underestimated. Yours is superb!!

of course, would love to see some of these things as separate posts.

hahhaaah…I’m with you on the socks…always knee socks in pink, orange, red, purple and yellow….otherwise, you might as well be wearing nothing

Wow– so many things to ooh and ahh over. Love the Free Water and Air sign, the Saguaro Towing sign, and also the Skyview Drive-in sign which has GOT to be a repro otherwise it’s the find of the century. But my absolute fave is the “Absolute Traveler” sign, with the impossibly cheerful little pig-tailed girl with her Western outfit and impossibly tiny suitcase, enthusiastically heading off to take a dump in a (presumably) filthy public restroom. Wonder what she looks like when she comes out.

Hey Doug. Yes, the UFO sign and Skyview Drive-in sign are repro (and the snack food characters are magnets). The rest of the signs and framed ads are the real deal. The “Blood Red and the Texas Aliens” canvas print is one of fifty signed by the artist. There is much more gas station signs and framed art, but I already overwhelmed this post with too many photos!

You know we’d love to see the other gas station signs and prints here at AWMOK so post away!

I wouldn’t say this had you not said that much of what’s pictured here is the real deal but I really think that repros bring a collection down. You have so much incredible original stuff I wouldn’t give anyone the chance to even question if any of them were repro. Especially as true collectors can spot this stuff in a second. So my vote, seeing as you have so much original memorabilia, would be to not buy repros anymore and fill out your beautiful collection with originals as you see them and as they’re affordable. I always want to encourage people to be the best collectors they can possibly be and you have such a wonderful eye.

I do love that the kit cat has made it in there though :) Seriously, I would never leave this room…I can not wait to look at these pics again…I’m in hero worship overdrive over the Gremlin ornament….insure this room like Betty Grable did her legs!!!!

If I had to pick my most favorite treasures here, it would probably be the miniature Texaco gas station (excellent), the 7UP clock, the Reddy Kilowatt figurine, the UFO cowboy artwork, and the old drive-in movie speaker.
