Superior potato chips was actually a big potato chip brand out of Detroit. My chubby little hands dipped into similar such cans all too often growing up.
The CB Radio trophy in photo number two was given to me by DJ Rachel Lichtman, whose luxuriaradio.com show I’ve been on many times. So excellent that it’s for the oldest trucker present. Not sure I’d like to be in front of him/her on the road.
Truckers probably consumed much Quicksand powdered bubblegum to stay awake. More on Quicksand: https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2009/10/22/allee-willis-kitsch-o-the-day-powder-bubblegum/
The cast iron horse bookends were one of the first things I found in a thrift shop when I moved to California. I believe the pair was two dollars. I’m so happy you posted this because I’ve been thinking about those bookends and couldn’t remember where they were.
As far as the Jet magazines go, it’s every single issue between 1971 and 1975 except for one from 2006 when my musical, The Color Purple, was featured on the cover.
