Mom’s Bryant Pup

This papier mache boston terrier was the mascot for The Bryant Furnace Company.  My Mom worked 30 years at a place where this was displayed along with gas stoves and furnaces made by Bryant.  It’s about 18 inches tall, and over the time they manufactured several different styles.  I asked Mom is I could have it, and she said she couldn’t take less than $300 for it.  I told her I’d pay it, then 48 hours later she told me she’d give it to me.  What a character.

Here is Mom today as she prepares to check out of a nursing home where they made her stay temporarily after a hospital visit.  She’s moving into her new apartment in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She’s lived out in rural Nebraska within 2 miles of where she was born her entire 83 years except for college.  Go Norma!

Such a cute doggie! And such a cute mommie! And such chutzpah to go for the 300 clams!! I hope your mom enjoys her new home. I’m surprised she didn’t want to take her watchdog with her.

How much does Bryant dog weigh?

    His facial expression is priceless.

It couldn’t weigh 5 pounds, it’s very light.

And as for her not wanting to take it with her, we’ll just see. If she wants it there sometime, I may have to tell her I couldn’t take less than $300, which she would love. For a second, then I’d have to run, or come up with the canine.
