1960’s Woolworth painting by SHERLE

This painting was one of those mass-produced prints sold by Woolworths in the 60’s.  I found this one while thrift shopping with Mom back in PA.  The insane price tag on this one was $3.00.  I snatched this up so fast I got dizzy.  This print measures 28 1/2 x 14 1/2.

Mass produced or not this is incredible and SO of the period.

What on earth is going on with her hair?? And she had to have had a craft-happy mother to have stitched her such a leaf-happy costume.

I covet anything that still has a Woolworths tag on it.

It’s like pointing her toes makes her hair stand up.

Her hair looks like a bats ears and that big, orange thing wrapped around her neck? What the hell is that?

I’d love to know more about Sherle. I wonder if this might be a self portrait?
