That’s a pretty happy home-made bear relaxing on the bed of our hostess and grand dame of kitsch – Allee Willis.  I don’t know the history of the bed frame (it’s so groovy) or any of the other pieces of kitsch here but I really love the lighting fixture to the left of the photo!

Yes, your yarn bear is very happy indeed! I know you got him from the dump but he’s all cleaned up and so completely stupid looking in the best possible way that kitsch can look stupid so I love him beyond.

I commissioned the bed to be made in 1981 when I first moved into Willis Wonderland. It was made by my good friend, Kim Milligan, who unfortunately left the planet a couple of decades ago. He also designed the bookcase in that room. The front of the bed has a giant amoeba shape footboard.

Both of the lamps on the bed frame are vintage 50s, as is the bedroom Mood-Meter on the headboard. That’s also a vintage shower door in the metal frame.

    The bedspread is 50’s chenille.
