This is a rare shot of the living room at WIllis Wonderland.  Allee was getting ready to be photographed for the book “Born In Detroit” about famous people from the  city.  I’ve always loved wood floors but obsessing over those couches really wears me out.

Yes, everything pushed back for a photo shoot for the Iconic Detroiters book, perhaps out at Christmas…

The couches are vintage 50’s couches that had a round coffee table between them. They were recovered with fake pink shag fabric in 2004. I plastic put on them as I was on the road with The Color Purple and didn’t want my kitty, Niblet, using them as a potty, as she did when they were covered with vintage fabric and she wasn’t happy about me being on the road. When I got got back after 4 months I loved the look too much to remove the plastic, It’s how I grew up so it’s good enough for my kittiesl

OH GOD, I remember spotting those couches of a couple of pics before I was even a aKitschionado and everytime I was almost exploding of envy, seriously. Shape, color, I love just everything about them!

I´m familiar with the potty problem. We have three cats as well and as we returned after a trip to scotland our BED was not looking (neither smelling) very nice. We also learned our lesson from that. Cats know how to express when they are pissed off – they simply piss back, lol

Bettina, seeing these couches in person is mind blowing to say the least. I absolutely love being in this room.

Who I am kidding? I go through a week of depression when I leave Willis Wonderland. Who knew kitsch could be so emotionally challenging! I get separation anxiety when I leave “The House Of Prudence” & “Willis Wonderland”. :)
