  1. Allee Willis

I have a huge amount of black paperback books from this era. Well, I have a MASSIVE amount of black memorabilia from this era, period!

I love that he’s up to his sweet hips in revolution.

  2. Brother Cleve

I have quite the collection of blaxploitation paperbacks as well. In fact, I have the complete Superspade series (6 volumes). I was fortunate to work at an inner city Waldenbooks in the 70’s and we sold all of these, as well as the complete Holloway House catalog…the Donald Goines books were huge sellers. Unforunately the Charles Avery Harris books were poorly distributed, which is why they sell for hundreds and hundreds of dollars now.

This is the end of the era for great paperback covers, too. The generic style cover really gets started around the late 70’s. Sad.

You should see Allee’s tiki book hut at Willis Wonderland. It makes me head spin every time I go into it! I will tackle that one day. I’d love to photograph that book collection.
