This thimble always killed me. It seems so stupid as a promo item for a presidential campaign as you can never see the whole name in a single glance. Of course, this makes me treasure it a trillion times more than if it were just a campaign button or poster or anything else that was better thought out as instant recognition goes.
I went to a gay protest march in Washington D.C. back in 1987 (after the Supreme Court ruled that gay people did not have the right to privacy in their own bedrooms), and Jessie Jackson was the only political person who bothered to show up. Because of that, I did volunteer work for him when he ran for president. I knew he wasn’t going to win, but I wanted to show my appreciation.
