Bill Johnson’s Big Apple Restaurant on Van Buren Street, downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Quite possibly one of my favorite signs of all-time. This is a local establishment where Buck Owens once did a radio show.
That is one great sign. Wondering why it’s called “Big Apple”? Is there some New York motif inside to contrast with the Old West, or does the joint serve apple pancakes or something?

GORGEOUS!
I’m assuming the steer lights up as well?
How’s the food?
If you pass it at night, please shoot it turned on.
I want a commemorative glass for $2.99!
I LOVE that it’s open at 6 AM!

Food was OK even if my waiter was wearing a pistol. Atmosphere was pure old west. Locations found throughout the valley.
