September – DO YOU REMEMBER? My contribution to Allee’s concerts!

I attended a recent “beef n’ beer” here in PA.  It was held to benefit folks living with “Lou Gehrig’s disease”.  The woman I am dancing with has known me since I was 3 years old.  We lived on the same block.  Her kids, her sisters kids, all of us played together.  This benefit is held each year in Connie’s sisters memory, Dawn Hunsicker who passed away several years ago from this disease.  It was an emotional evening as I haven’t seen some of Connie’s kids for over 30 years.  I could write a book about my childhood.  Anyway, there is no hint of this woman EVER slowing down.  So imagine my surprise when SEPTEMBER came blaring out of the speakers at this event.  I about had a fit.  So I grabbed Connie and jammed once again to Allee’s and Earth Wind & Fire’s classic “SEPTEMBER”.  I wasn’t sure wether to cry or dance, I chose to dance and Connie really gave me a run for my money here.  Thank god Connie’s niece Allison (who I grew up with) was close by with a camera.  This is the results.  When I screamed to Allison, “it’s Allee’s song, it’s Allee’s song”, she looked at me like I was nuts.  With that said, I worked up a sweat and reunited with one of the sweetest women I know.  I am devastated that I cannot be at your shows Allee’s but hopefully this picture will prove to you that I am there in spirit.

Love that photo! Love Connie. Love the cause. And love especially “beef n’ beer”. We don’t have such sophisticated events out here in California.

So glad you got reunited with old friends and that September was part of the soundtrack.

Photos from my 11/9 show should be going up today so check the photos page on alleewillis.com later today.

Aw, Sweetie, we SOOOO missed you at the shows, but then, no matter what, you are ALWAYS there!!! You live in everyone’s heart, which is not as good as being able to hug you in person, but still fabulous to have you there!

So sorry to hear about Dawn. So nice that there is still a benefit for others in her name…ALS is an evil bastard of a disease…A good friend of mine has been living with it for years which is nothing short of a miracle…There is movie about him that’s just finally gone to dvd…Connie and her family may already know of him…check it out:
