Marlene is the star of my kitsch collection – with blue rhinestone eyes, ceramic cats-eye glasses, rabbit fur accents and a faded pink bow at her neck. I saved her from a thrift years ago and she’s been with me through good times and bad. I didn’t notice ’til I snapped this photo what an endearing smile she has, but as we’ve learned from Hollywood, gals who wear glasses (Mod Betty included) are always secretly prettier behind those peeper-protectors!

I love all of MArlene’s feathery tufts. Are they actual fur? I love how fluffed and yet matted she looks, a sophisticated breed with a smashed-in face and incredible eyeglasses. Shes the perfect mesh of high and low esthetics that I love.
