Big chrome light mounted on a 50’s bike…

Can you believe this was carefully stored away for decades, then put on the curb to be hauled away. This is part of the treasure we rescued from a mound of forgotten childhood memories. It’s a beauty! It may have been mounted on the paperboy’s  50’s Schwinn bicyle, the kind with big balloon tires, and a button on the side for the horn, plastic streamers flowing from the hand grips. (sorry, I was having a flashback) .

Unbelievable that this was thrown out along with all of the paperboy’s other things. It wasn’t even used! What other kind of objects were there in the stash?

I’ve been looking around at these bike lights a lot lately. I got a bike last year and and am as obsessed with decorating it as I was when I was a kid. It’s got fat red tires on it And a lot of those laser things that glow at night when you pedal. Other than I never take the bike out at night so that’s pretty much a waste of money. But I’ve been looking for a light exactly like this one but that’s as high-powered as newer fangled lights are.

Absolutely unbelievable what great shape this is in!

To see the vestiges of the paper route that this bike light was to accompany go here: https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2011/02/06/the-newspaper-boy-get-recognition/

Maybe David got this light as a gift for his excellent report cards: https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2011/02/09/david-bs-report-cards-grades-4-thru-12/

The world seems to be divided between the saver and the thrower. I agree, how could anyone have tried to trash this spectacular vintage bike light. And mint too. Many of the treasures I have found, I have either kept, gifted, sold on ebay or tossed when I realized it was a total reject in the light of day. This light received a new home on ebay last year.
