This lunchbox features “The Chan Clan” from the short-lived Hanna Barbara cartoon “The Amazing Chan and The Chan Clan” It’s pretty much an oriental Scooby-Doo. Sadly I don’t have the thermos that came with it, but I do have a Hong Kong Phooey one that seems an appropriate match.

I don’t know how I missed ‚ÄúThe Amazing Chan and The Chan Clan‚Äù other than I was probably watching Hullabaloo by that point. Oriental Scooby-Doo is an understatement – swap Chinese monster for dog, have everyone doing The Frug or Boogaloo, etc.
Although the thermos for this lunchbox would undoubtably have been metal with a glass lining I can accept Hong Kong Phooey as an able substitute.

Do you have any Goober and the Ghostchasers lunch boxes? I don’t know if they made one and I have had no luck finding one. I really want something with them on it.

waaaiiiit, i do not know about “the amazing chan and the chan clan”…this is the kind of discovery that could possibly lead to my wasting much of my sunday afternoon investigating it on the internet if i do not exercise some self-control and just let it go… so it’s charlie chan meets scooby doo via hong kong phooey…probably involving a lot of asian stereotype dialogue and behavior (and sound effects like gongs) that would now be recognized as being borderline-if-not-outright racist…interesting!

Hey Jack, I have a goober and the ghost chasers box with inch high private eye on the back. Should I post it?
