Wrought AIron Fish Trivet/Sculpture

Submitted by snappyp January 12th, 2010

A friend of mine purchased this on Ebay for me a few years ago. I love the face. It is almost a joke face and not a fishy face. I love the big fish body and that tiny misshapen tail. Like the artist forgot the tail until the last minute. I like it because there is something inherently happy about it.

I agree about the tail appearing to be an afterthought. And where are the fins? Looks like all the metal allotment went into the face. Also he’s unusually straight on the bottom. Makes me think that the sculptor/welder didn’t make a sketch or template before they began and then ran out of space at the bottom.
