This is the real deal. It belongs to a friend who asked me to share it with the world. Even as a little girl of about 8, I remember having a white T-shirt with a full color Davy Crockett illustration. Only Fess Parker could ever be Davy Crockett.

I have so much Davy Crockett stuff but nothing as great as this. My stuff – buttons, scarf, lunchbox, notebook and I think a bank – are buried deep in boxes before I got to documenting everything before I sealed them up. I had such severe writing deadlines last week I knew that if I went to look for anything to honor Fess Parker in his passing that deadlines wouldn’t be met. So I’m very happy you have this gun and holster up here.

Fess Parker owns/ed the Doubletree Hotel in Santa Barbara. I was there for a seminar about 10 years ago but spent all my time running around the hotel photographing all the Davy Crockett memorabilia.

    R.I.P. Fess.

i went to fess parker’s winery about 12 or so years ago and he was sitting in a tall director’s chair in the middle of the tasting room autographing bottles. as he was signing my wine with a little silver paint marker, i casually asked him something to the effect of “how’s business?” and he launched into a 15 minute raving tirade about how much trouble “all them mexicans” he hired to picked the grapes were giving him…i wish i could find that autographed bottle…

oh, and daniel boone is my great great great great great (5 greats) grandfather…
