This musician figure is made out of metal and sports a wire brush head. On the base is hand-painted, “Blow Charlie Blow,” a phrase I’ve heard associated with saxophone great Charlie Parker, although the instrument this guy is playing looks more like a slide trombone. I bought this at Jack Chipman’s estate sale (he’s an artist and vintage California pottery author/expert), but he didn’t know anything about its history.

Oy I LOVE this! I love handmade sculptures from found objects. I love Charlie Parker. I love that the hat is a metal brush.

Is the horn an old hair pin?

How tall is he? About 6 inches?
