Ceramic Kali head

Submitted by Michael Ely June 26th, 2010

Kali is a Hindu goddess. She is the ultimate warrior goddess (once destroying a regenerating demon by drinking his blood, hence her protruding tongue). She is also the ultimate mother goddess, protecting all her children from harm and negative energy.

This is a beautiful and colorful ceramic Kali head, and what makes this piece so unique and kitsch is that the long tongue is attached to a coiled spring inside of the head so that it bounces up and down (a bobble tongue)!

I’ve never seen this kind of Hindu goddess before. I do love the bobble tongue and the handy ring through her nose. She’s kind of like a goth Hindu goddess. I would not have to know that she was the ultimate warrior goddess to know to steer clear of a gal racing toward me who looked like this.

    How tall is she?
