Elvis or Pat Boone… who is the “king”?

How could Pat Boone ever compete with Elvis in the 50’s? Elvis was king. Eddie Fisher leaves sweet Debbie Reynolds to become a love slave to Elizabeth Taylor….on and on, every issue was filled with Hollywood drama, just like today’s tabloids, but it seemed much juicer then. Teens were not as worldly as they are today.

There was never ever really any debate between Pat Boone an Elvis but Pat Boone had enough money and PR behind him to create the illusion.

I still have a lot of these magazines as well. I love the color process on all the covers in this era. Everything looked so Technicolor.

As a pre-teen or even a teen I really never reads these mags. I guess I was too busy defining my own life. But, reading them now is enlightning as to what it was like in the ’50s. Right down to the photos & advertisments.
