We were up-north in Mi over the weekend, doing a show at the Petoskey Fairgrounds. We did a little shopping and a little “sleuthing for kitsch for AWMOK”…. Forget James Bond…we all need a Allee Willis-AWMOK spy camera…smile
This is a great kitchy Popsicle Stick table lamp, trimmed with Marbles…probably from the 50’s-60’s.. All the little colorful Marbles that were reflecting the light from the big display window…caught our eye as soon as we walked into the sellers booth…
People who have the patience to build craft projects like this amaze me. Everything looks perfectly placed. The marbles are a stroke of genius. I could never build anything that demanded so much precision.
What were they selling the lamp for? And did the person stain the popsicle sticks? That’s the kind of anal dedication this kind of project demands.
Some of my family used to live on Petoskey in Detroit. Have never been to actual city though.
Thanks… I think, if I remember correctly, it was in the $50-$75 range???… I don’t know if it was stained or had it’s own nice age patina???…
We love Petoskey, Mi…It’s on Lake Michigan’s Little Traverse Bay. So green w/all the rain EVERYTHING is growing like mad…
Wow what a fab lamp, I love it!
Wow, this is definitely a crown jewel of the homemade-popsicle-stick genre of design.
