“Happy Man” (a painting by me, inspired by Aldous Huxley’s novel “Brave New World”)

I painted this in the summer, right around the time of having to read “Brave New World” for a psyche class I was taking. Wasn’t crazy about either class but reading this book gave me all sorts of wacky ideas and this was the result, “Happy Man”. Who wouldn’t want to run around with a TV in their hat that was always broadcasting nothing but happy thoughts and images. Size is 18×24.

This started out as just a head with a “tv hat” and then I decided to squeeze in a body, that may explain why he is a bit short and of course once again, I left off 2 fingers on each hand, a mistake I decided not to fix.

As I have a TV in every room and in the old days used to have one on every wall so I didn’t have to miss a thing as I walked through my house, I can totally relate to someone who has a pemanent TV in their head.

I love his little squat body. If he’s spending all this time in his head he doesn’t need much of a body anyway. And channels can easily be switched with only three fingers on each hand.

    Nice bangs.

    Great post… I love “Happy Man”….
All the details kill me…”had a little curl, right in the middle of his forehead”.. The hat flower…pinned or stapled???.. The bows on his shoes.. And, his inseam….smile …He’s great..
