I recently came across the rest of the “lot” of papier mache banks I purchased on eBay many years ago. This doe-eyed bunny is about 7″ long. She appears to have a little lacy-flowery shawl over her back (though I’m not sure why! Maybe she was cold?)

The bottom is marked © 1967 Hong Horizons with a worn Japan sticker.

Though I didn’t collect this stuff, it so emblematic of the late 60s. The whole papier-mâché craze, the colors, the sleek yet still egg-like shape, and the fact that it’s a bank. And let’s not forget the eyelashes.
I think the shawl was just an excuse to paint more flowers.
