I got these two rock owls at a gift shop in Ft. Bragg. CA. I attached them to a branch of a tree on my patio. In my hometown, Marysville CA, one time the guy who “invented” pet rocks gave a “Rock Concert”. A local character was dressed in an ornate band master’s uniform. His “orchestra” consisted of 24 folding chairs each with a rock sitting on it. As he “conducted the program, music from aa cassette furnished the music.

Although I never personally owned a pet rock back in the day I thought the concept was brilliant. And I, myself, resorted to painting many a rock as gifts in the late 60s and early 70s. So I really appreciate these owls. And I would have killed to see the pet rock inventor perform his rock concert.

To more or less quote David Allen Coe,”come to find out, in California, when they had a rock concert, you were supposed to carry your own rocks”…..i’d have liked to have been at the pet rock inventor gig also.
