I don’t know whether this book was a whole series or not. I found it on eBay when I first began to write The Color Purple in 2001 and started to collect things about the theater. The book was written in the late 50s, when going to the theater still meant you put on a tux or evening gown. As I never really went to the theater I was still expecting the audience to look like this on current day Broadway. Boy, was I wrong….. Other than our show, where the audiences still dressed as if it was a big deal, all the lines going into the other shows looked like they were filled with people lined up to go to a state fair.
I’m DYING for Peggy Goes Off Broadway and P Goes To Hollywood. Excellent research!

Yes, it is indeed a whole series! I became familiar with it when I was cataloging a collection of children’s books last year. I found myself a copy of the second in the series, Peggy Plays Off Broadway, on thriftbooks.com AbeBooks also has numerous copies. They’re pretty easily found. And speaking of finding things, I’m glad to have found your website, Allee! :)
